About Baycast

One place to check the water before you fish the Texas Coastal Bend.

Baycast is an independent fishing resource for the Texas Coastal Bend, from Baffin Bay and the Upper Laguna Madre to Port O'Connor. We put the information anglers check before every trip in one place: live wind, tides, marine forecasts, waves, radar, launch ramps, regulations and honest guide prices.

Why we built Baycast

Planning a day on the water usually means juggling a tide app, the NWS marine forecast, a radar app, a buoy page and a dozen guide websites. Baycast pulls official public data into one page for each bay system and adds a plain-English read on whether it's a good day to go.

Where our data comes from

  • Tides, wind, water temperature and pressure: NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) stations along the coast.
  • Marine forecasts, hourly forecasts and advisories: the National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi.
  • Gulf waves: NOAA National Data Buoy Center buoys.
  • Radar: RainViewer, built on national weather radar data. Wave and wind maps are embedded from Windy.
  • Regulations: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Always confirm current rules with TPWD.

Live data comes straight from these sources, so a reading can be missing or late when a station goes offline. Each panel shows its source and how old the reading is.

How we list guides

Guide listings are free. Prices come from each guide's own published rates, checked when the listing was added or updated. Guides can't pay for placement, and we don't take booking commissions: you book directly with the captain. Guides can submit their own listing, and we review each one before it goes live.

Your safety comes first

Baycast's verdicts are a quick guide, not a safety guarantee. Conditions on the water change fast. Read the official marine forecast, watch the sky and make your own call. See our disclaimer.

How Baycast is funded

Baycast is free to use. We may show advertising to cover hosting costs. Ads are served by third parties and kept separate from our content. See our privacy policy.
